Who Is God?

In my Student's Life and Calling class we've been discussing big questions, such as "Who is God?" For homework last night we had go through several Bible passages and write down what they tell us about who God is.  I just wanted to share will anyone who reads this what I wrote down. It's not really in any organized manner, so sorry about that. I was just writing down whatever came to mind.

They show that God is very big and great. He is able to do miraculous things such as creating the entire world out of nothing. When He speaks, things happen. He's an artist and a poet. God gave some of His attributes to man and woman. Each one displays God in a different way. Women show God's beauty, compassion, and longing for relationship. Men show how God is protecting, adventurous, and is a provider. God has ultimate wisdom, and He gives us some of His wisdom, but we will never be able to know all that God knows. No one can ever rule above Him. No one can ever give something to God that isn't already His. God is glorious and He shows it to us in the sky. Everything that He has made shows little bits of who He is. Nothing can be said that God does not hear. He is perfect and trustworthy. Everything that He does is right, and He is able to give us knowledge of what is right and what is wrong. No action can ever be done that God is not aware of. He knows every last detail of everything we ever do. His word will last forever and is always relevant to our lives no matter how old it is. God is light. Darkness can't even exist where He is. He is our guide. The thoughts that God has of us outnumber the grains of sand (which is a whole lot). He really cares about every detail in our lives. God is our comforter. He is faithful to his promises. Even though we sin, He still loves us enough to provide a way to be saved from our sin. He speaks to us through His Holy Spirit, who speaks to prophets or directly to us. God is not distant. We can call upon Him for anything that we ever need and He hears us. Unlike other gods who are just images that can't be known, we can know God personally. He is always present to rescue us. He is ridiculously creative. He's just so huge, yet we try and confine Him in our little boxes. God can't be contained.
