A Winter Retreat

Wow it's been quite awhile since I've last written anything. That's because I was on a youth group retreat the whole weekend and was just way too tired still yesterday. My new thing for Friday was going on the winter retreat. I had never been on a winter retreat with Cornerstone before, I went on the beach retreat but not the winter one. It was at Spruce Lake up in the Poconos. It was a pretty nice place. The weekend was pretty busy. Saturday we did an obstacle course where everyone on the team had some sort of physical ailment, such as being blind, deaf, missing arms or a leg, or silly things like having to scratch your foot every time a whistle blew or eating granola bars (I'm so glad I didn't get that one). So for the entire obstacle course I had to walk backwards. And let me tell you, that was not an easy task. I had to have someone guide me through the entire thing and one part we had to get over a rope that was probably 4 feet off the ground so I had to be lifted onto someone's shoulders and I had to fall over the rope backwards into the arms of my other teammates. That sure was scary.

Also, I on Saturday I climbed up a rock wall. I didn't make it all the way to the top, but that's quite okay with me. I'm not a big fan of heights and don't have much physical strength, but I was able to make it half way up the wall. It was surprisingly fun, but rather painful the next morning. Through out the weekend I got to talk to one guy who I've never really had the chance to talk to before and I really enjoyed his company. He's not like other guys. He's just so polite and kind. Sunday, I don't think I did anything new because I was so exhausted that I spent most of the day half asleep.

Monday, I had a much needed talk with my pastor. I've been wanting to talk to him but just never got around to it. I finally made an appointment to talk to him and it felt pretty good. I learned some stuff about myself that I really needed to know. I'm going to keep going in to talk to him because he's just so helpful, and really smart. I love how he just knows so much stuff. I could tell him one thing and he could figure out my personality and he was pretty right about all the things that he was asking me about myself.

Today, I kinda forgot to do something new. By the time I realized that I hadn't done anything it was too late to think of something to do that wouldn't be long and involved or take prior planning. But tomorrow I'll be doing some new things for sure. I'll also post some pictures of me rock climbing tomorrow. I don't have time to resize them right now.

  1. Hey, I think the idea about you doing something new each day is pretty cool. Keep up the good work. Thanks for your prayers for my family as we transistion into the year without my granddad. This is my new blog site. I have actually had it since October but haven't told anyone about it until now. So, I'll keep checking yours and you can do the same for me. Thanks.
